Songwriting Blurb

We might say that a song is made of two things:
1. A Lyric; a novel poetic expression, which communicates a mood, emotion or idea.
2. A melody; which carries the lyric, and very often a rhythm and chord structure that supports the melody.

That's the song itself. When the song is recorded, production comes into play.

Production is the way the song is recorded - it's the instrumentation, musical arrangement, vocal and overall sound of the song.
